I am rolling out something new. I have no formal name for it, however, the concept is pretty simple. Once a month I will be hosting a breakfast discussion. Similar to how I approach these emails the focus will be on helping people get smarter about their finances, whether it is directly or indirectly. Stay with me as I go in a bit deeper of detail.
The meetings will be small group. My thought is to keep them to 6-8 attendees. Sessions will be one hour in length, from 7:30 to 8:30 AM. The location will be Akron Family Restaurant near St. Vincent – St. Mary. It will be the second Thursday of each month. The first one will be Thursday, August 10th.
Before I get into the topics and purpose, let me clearly explain the most important rule with these meetings. NO SELLING WILL BE PERMITTED! I am instituting a one-chance policy for anyone who attends these meetings. If someone tries to sell they will not be permitted to come back. If I even get a sniff of sales going on, then the guilty party will have received his or her one free breakfast from me. Oh, and if you bring a guest who tries to sell then you are lumped into the “no chance at attending again” pile.
The purpose of these meetings is to cover topics clients and friends ask me about. I want to have deeper conversations than I am able to cover in emails. For certain topics I will be bringing in outside experts to cover them. Most topics I will cover myself. However, the goal is to have less of a presentation and more of a discussion.
Topics will be different every month. I have been developing a list of them and I can tell you they are nothing like what the typical advisor would cover. Instead, they are based on questions I get and trends I am seeing with clients. For example, the first meeting will be on a topic that none of my clients are invested in but people are starting to ask me about. It will be a discussion of “cryptocurrencies.” You know, things like Bitcoin.
Now, there is no set list of attendees for these meetings. If you are interested in attending you need to shoot me a separate email at email@example.com. I am not holding a set seat every month for anyone. So, if you see a topic you like you must reach out to me every month. I will warn you that topic notices for future meetings will be at the end of a normal email, not in a whole separate one such as this.
Finally, I am willing to pick up the tab for the first five (5) people who RSVP for the August 10th discussion on cryptocurrencies. I will be limiting attendance at this first event to eight (8). However, I will always make room for clients.
So, if you have an interest in learning more about cryptocurrencies and having breakfast with some new people, feel free to send me an email. The format will be very informal, will be a discussion instead of an hour-long presentation and we will be heading out the door at 8:30! Hopefully I will not be having breakfast by myself and a few of you will join me to learn a bit so you can make better decisions with your money.
